We had a blast visiting the beautiful mountains of Kalavrita in northern Greece,
First we went to a little village called Kernitsa, where we visited Cherryland Farm, which has been developed for agrotourism, You can stay at the farm in one of their charming and cozy guesthouses, or just visit, attend a seminar (yoga, cooking, etc.) or even arrange a special event such a wedding, exhibition or party.
We especially loved being around the animals that wander the property: donkeys, ducks, hares, rabbits, chickens and cows.
Being at the farm is a very peaceful experience as you are totally surrounded by nature, everything is very quiet and there is a beautiful river running through the property.
We can’t wait to go back!
After Cherryland, we went to Zachlorou which is well known for its amazing hiking trails, breathtaking scenery and picturesque village. Many people still take the old train that runs through the village just to enjoy the incredible view. At certain points, the train even passes though open tunnels which have been cut into the rock face of the mountain, looking down at the gorge below.
We would definitely recommend this road trip to anyone visiting Greece. Remember, Greece isn’t just gorgeous beaches and islands, there are also many places in the mountains with scenic landscapes to be explored – don’t miss out!
